La cabaña estival donde Benny y Björn componían sus éxitos como Fernando y Dancing Queen ha sido puesto a la venta.

La cabaña ha jugado un papel principal en la herencia cultural de Abba. Ha aparecido en especiales de televisión, fotos e incluso en su película Abba The Movie.
El hecho de que haya sido tan importante en la historia de Abba ha hecho que una fiel recreación del interior de la cabaña esté en la exposición itinerante Abbaworld.

La cabaña de los compositores pertenece a una propiedad más grande en la isla de Viggsö en el archipiélago de Estocolmo. The summer cottage where Benny and Björn worked on hits such as Fernando and Dancing Queen has been put up for sale.

The cottage has played a rich part in Abba's cultural heritage. It has been featured in TV specials, many pictures and even Abba The Movie. The fact that it has been so pivotal in the Abba story is borne out by the inclusion of a faithful recreation of the cottage’s interior in the Abbaworld touring exhibition.
The ‘songwriters hut’ belongs to a larger property on the island of Viggsö in Stockholm’s archipelago. It is this property, for sale at SEK 7,000,000 and the property next door that are now for sale. It is believed that Björn and Lena currently own both properties. Maybe they just didn’t get over there much this Summer?!

After having passed by Earls Court (London), Federation Square (Melbourne, Australia), the third stop of Abbaworld touring exhibition is at Eto Park, Györ, 100kms west of Budapest, Hungary, from December, 4th, but also and at the same time it will open up in Sydney on December 17th until March 6th. After more than 30 years since ABBA’s first live performance in Australia at the Sydney Showgrounds in Moore Park on that wet evening of 3 March 1977, ABBA will return to Sydney in the first official exhibition about the 1970s global pop sensation.
The exhibition, ABBAWORLD, is showing exclusively in Sydney at the Powerhouse Museum from 17 December 2010.
The exhibition will capture the music, memories and magic that made the Swedish group a worldwide phenomenon and whose music almost four decades later continues to attract new generations of fans.
Band member Björn Ulvaeus said: “It always seemed to me that people in the music press and also in the music industry sort of took it for granted that ABBA would be a one hit wonder. Why would we be different from any other Eurovision winner?
“We really had an up-hill struggle after Waterloo and our follow-up singles didn’t do well. Then the Australians came to our rescue. They released SOS and Mamma Mia and both songs made the charts in a big way down under. Suddenly everyone else around the world realized there was life in the band that was supposed to be dead. I’m forever grateful to the Australians for that!”
ABBAWORLD will examine where the four members of the group came from, the formation and success of ABBA and the post ABBA years. It will feature ABBA’s first major international live performance and Sweden’s first win at the Eurovision Song contest in 1974, their highly acclaimed concert tours including the Australian tour in 1977, and the impact of their music that has inspired several hit movies and a stage show - Muriel’s Wedding, Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Mamma Mia!.
The exhibition will feature more than 20 original costumes, the epitome of 70’s glam, live concert footage, promotional and behind the scenes photographs, album artworks and other ABBA memorabilia, as well as exclusive interviews with members Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, Anni Frid Lyngstad and Agnetha Fältskog.
Replicas of an ABBA concert dressing room where a team of costume makers and make-up artists worked; the writing studio on Viggsö – an island in the Stockholm archipelago – where many of ABBA’s most popular songs were written; and ABBA’s own state of the art recording studio – Polar Studio in Stockholm – where they recorded their last two albums, will feature in the exhibition.
Visitors will be able to relive ABBA’s music and sing and dance their way through the exhibition using a series of interactives. These will include performing on a stage with ABBA, dancing in an ABBA video, recording a sing-a-long with ABBA and photographing yourself on an ABBA album cover.
The exhibition comes from Sweden, following its successful debut in London last January and a season at Federation Square in Melbourne earlier this year. For the Sydney season, new content about the group’s appearances in Australia and their impact on Australian pop culture will be added to the exhibition by the Powerhouse Museum.
According to Magnus Danielsson, President of Touring Exhibitions, the producers of ABBAWORLD: “No group has ever had such crossover success, bringing together fans of all ages together, bridging generation gaps and cultural differences.
This is a unique opportunity for the people of Sydney to see original ABBA material.” Danielsson continues, “The Sydney exhibition will be running in parallel with a run of ABBAWORLD in Györ, Hungary. ABBAWORLD has a universal appeal and we work hard to make it available to fans around the globe.”
For more than 35 years, ABBA has maintained international success with their songs that remain a fixture on radio playlists today. ABBA is one of the top three selling artists in the world, having sold 375 million records worldwide. They still sell over 3 million records a year.

After stints in London and Melbourne ABBAWORLD is spreading out across the globe, opening at ETO Park in Györ, Hungary on December 4th, and at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney, Australia on December 17th.
ABBAWORLD is the fully interactive ABBA exhibition, endorsed by the four members. It includes original ABBA costumes, recreations of their Polar Music office, studio, backstage dressing room, Björn and Benny’s songwriting hut, gold records, personal items, new interviews with the Frida, Benny, Björn, Agnetha and many of their collaborators, plus interactive features including ABBA sing-along, Dance with ABBA, and the popular Perform with ABBA, where you perform on stage with a 3D hologram version of the group. Visitors can download their interactive experiences afterwards from the ABBAWORLD website.
Questions have been asked how the exhibition can be in two cities at the same time. Most of the exhibition is especially constructed – the displays, interactive elements, audio guides, etc. Of the original ABBA artifacts there are enough costumes, gold records, awards, instruments, etc to make a satisfactory display for several simultaneous exhibitions.
There were already differences between London and Melbourne. In Melbourne the exhibition covered three floors, which made for a different arrangement to London’s single level. Melbourne had less costumes than London, but added some different ones. Melbourne included more Australian content, including more local gold records, memorabilia, and fan stories.
The Hungarian website details the 16 (rather than 25) rooms of the exhibition there. It appears that most of the major elements are there, with some rooms merged together, such as the albums being in one room rather than individual rooms for each.

LAS ÚLTIMAS NOVEDADES SOBRE ABBA / Abba's latest news

Tenemos varias noticias pendientes sobre Abba, que van desde nuevas re-ediciones de sus discos, un nuevo programa homenaje en una cadena de TV británica y una sede para la Exibición ABBAWorld en Estocolmo. Os lo detallamos:

1) Una caja de edición limitada conteniendo los ocho álbumes de estudio de Abba, editados originalmente entre 1973-1981: Ring Ring, Waterloo, ABBA, Arrival, ABBA: The Album, Voulez Vous, Super Trouper and The Visitors. La caja también contiene un bonus álbum llamado ABBA Tracks, cuya cara-A contiene 5 caras-A de singles no incluidos en los álbumes de estudio originales. Las caras-B de ABBA Tracks contienen otras cinco canciones no incluídas en los álbumes, elegidos personalmente por Benny Andersson.
Se regresa así a las cintas maestras originales para cada uno de los álbumes, como se prepararon originalmente por ellos y sus socios. Björn añadió: "Tenemos curiosidad por ver qué canciones aparecen y en qué lugar del ránking. Los británicos nos adoptaron, completamente... y nos hicieron suyos, y estamos muy orgullosos de ellos. Es agradable venir a Inglaterra porque es como nuestra casa".
El programa se verá en el Reino Unido este año 2010.

y 4) Según la página-web Earth Times, Magnus Danielsson, presidente de Touring Exhibitions ha concedido una entrevista al periódico sueco Dagens Nyheter comentando sobre planes para instalar el museo en Estocolmo.
Un museo dedicado a ABBA puede ser realidad el año que viene después de que el ayuntamiento de Estocolmo lo discutiese.
"Esperamos conseguir el permiso de obra este otoño y esperamos abrirlo el próximo año," según Magnus Danielsson.
El edificio tendrá la forma de una tienda de campaña alargada y tendrá un permiso de cinco años prorrogable por otros cinco. El museo estará en la fachada marítima de Estocolmo y podrá ser accesible por ferry.

La exibición itinerante está en estos momentos en Melbourne, Australia e incluye música, trajes e instrumentos originales, fotos y otros recuerdos.

We've got several news on Abba to be said, they go from new re-releases of their records, a new tribute-programme on a British TV channel and a venue for the ABBAWorld Museum in Stockholm. We give you the details:

1) A limited edition box set containing ABBA’’s eight studio albums, originally released 1973––1981: Ring Ring, Waterloo, ABBA, Arrival, ABBA: The Album, Voulez Vous, Super Trouper and The Visitors. The box set also contains a bonus album, entitled ABBA Tracks, the A-side of which contains the five single A-sides not included on the original studio albums. The B-side of ABBA Tracks features a further five non-album songs, personally selected by ABBA's Benny Andersson.
Going back to the analogue master tapes for each individual album, as originally prepared by ABBA and their associates, the albums in the ABBA: THE VINYLS box set have been remastered for vinyl especially for this release. The track listings of the albums mirror the original Swedish releases, as originally planned and conceived by ABBA. Similarly, the eight studio albums are presented in replica covers featuring the original art work and inner sleeves –– exactly as they looked when they first hit record shops back in the '70s and early '80s.
2) ABBA's greatest hits album ABBA Gold, which to date has sold more than 28 million copies worldwide, will be re-released in a brand new ABBA Gold CD/DVD Special Edition on November 29, 2010. The CD features the latest remastered version of the album, while the DVD features newly remastered versions of all the video clips featured on the original DVD.
The DVD will also include bonus selections in the shape of "before-and-after" split-screen comparisons of five original film clips and the remastered versions of those clips. The new ABBA Gold DVD also features a recently discovered archive find: a cartoon version of 'Money, Money, Money', made circa 1977. This very rare clip of 'Money, Money, Money' was made by the Australian production company Reg Grundy's, but was only ever screened briefly during ABBA's heyday and has never been seen in complete form since.
The remastering of the ABBA Gold video clips has been made by Cutting Room in Stockholm, Sweden, taking full advantage of the progress in digital technology since the clips were last remastered in 2002. You have never seen them like this before!
ABBA Gold Special Edition also features a brand new essay on the album by Elisabeth Vincentelli, author of the books ABBA Gold and ABBA Treasures.
The ABBA Gold CD/DVD Special Edition will be released in a so-called flip-tray with a slip case. The worldwide release date is November 29, 2010, although dates may vary from territory to territory.
3) Bjorn and Frida are appealing to fans to vote for their favourite ABBA song as part of an upcoming UK TV tribute - which will see them reveal all about their time in the band.
The pair formed one half of the Swedish supergroup and achieved nine number one hit singles in Britain alone.
They've teamed up to record a series of revealing interviews about their heyday for a forthcoming show on British network ITV - and they also want Abba fans to vote for their most beloved track to form part of a countdown on the programme.
Lyngstad says, "Discussing all of our singles was great fun. There are many fond memories - memories about writing the songs, recording and promoting and performing them."
Ulvaeus adds, "We're all curious and excited to see which songs appear where in the countdown. The British people took us to their hearts, completely... and made us their own, which we are very proud of. It's very nice to come to England because it's like going home."

& 4) According to website Earth Times, Magnus Danielsson, president of Touring Exhibitions has given an interview to Swedish media outlet Dagens Nyheter suggesting plans to locate the museum in Stockholm for at least five years are taking shape.
A museum dedicated to former Swedish pop group ABBA may become reality next year after a Stockholm city arts council approved the envisaged museum site, reports said Friday.
"We expect to get a building permit this autumn and aim to open next year," Magnus Danielsson, head of the company that is organising a touring exhibition of ABBA memorabilia, told the Dagens Nyheter daily.
The building will be shaped like a long tent and given a five-year permit that can be extended a further five years, the report said.The museum will be on the Stockholm waterfront and can be accessed also by ferry.The touring exhibition - currently in Melbourne, Australia - features music, original costumes, instruments, photos and other memorabilia.

Estará abierto allí hasta el 31 de octubre. ¿Por qué Melburne, Australia es la segunda parada? Pues, suponemos porque Abba desató en el continente austral una histeria colectiva durante su visita en 1977, sólo comparable a la de los Beatles en Europa la década anterior. By this time, the second stop of Abbaworld will have already opened, after London, today it opens at Federation Square, in Melbourne. It'll remain open there until October 31st. Why Melbourne, Australia is the second stop? Well, we suppose because Abba broke out collective hysteria down under during their 1977 visit, only to compare with the Beatles' in Europe a decade before. We enclose an article on the subject and a video from "ABBA, THE MOVIE" with footage of their stay there.

For a few dizzy days in March 1977, four charismatic Scandinavians were the toast of Australia. Thousands of us wanted to see them or be seen with them.
And as Benny, Bjorn, Frida and Agnetha criss-crossed the country, singing their humungous hits, there was only one word on everyone’’s lips: ABBA
""We have probably never received such a rapturous reception anywhere,"" Agnetha said later. ""It seemed the ovation would never end.""
This week, with the opening of Abbaworld at Federation Square, that mad, far away time is vividly recalled through costumes, videos and memorabilia.
The monster-sized exhibition –– direct from London to Melbourne –– is crammed with super-trouper treasures. And some of them relate directly to ABBA’’s legendary Australian tour.
""It was very profitable for everyone,"" promoter Paul Dainty remembers.
But the man who brought ABBA Down Under –– and is now hosting Abbaworld –– got more out of the experience than just money, money, money.
""What I learnt from that trip was how to deal with a tour that was an event, not just a tour,"" he said.
Australia’’s love affair with ABBA started in 1975 when three of their songs –– I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, SOS and Mamma Mia! rocketed up the charts.
Exposure on Countdown turned the Swedes into stars and by 1976, when they visited Australia to record a ratings-breaking TV special, Dainty sensed a wave of interest was turning into a tsunami.

The deal was perfectly timed. In early 1977, Australians of all ages were humming Fernando and Dancing Queen and the scene was set for pandemonium on a scale not seen since the Beatles hit town in 1964.
""It was almost Beatlemania all over again,"" Ian ‘‘Molly’’ Meldrum remembers.
Dainty says ""it was mayhem. Good mayhem"".
The madness began as soon as Abba landed at Tullamarine Airport and climbed into a black Rolls-Royce. The road into the city was lined with fans and thousands swirled around Melbourne Town Hall where they attended a civic reception.
ABBA fan Michael McAlpine, 16 at the time, was up the front and remembers: ""All four of them turned and waved to us. The screaming was just out of this world.""
Abba played three concerts at the Myer Music Bowl and Dainty says ""it turned out to be the right choice. The shows were magical.""Abbaworld at Federation Square officially opens on Saturday.

Next Saturday Abbaworld in Australia opens up at Federation Square in Melbourne at 10 a.m. and will run until October, 31st, but the official opening gala is tonight. Agnetha and Benny have officially cut the opening ribbon of the event. No, Agnetha hasn't gone crazy taking a plane out to Australia! Incluso el más optimista de los fans del grupo Abba acaba aceptando a estas alturas que el cuarteto sueco no volverá a reunirse en un escenario, a pesar de las multimillonarias ofertas que siguen tentando el codiciado revival. Pero quizá pueda suplir esos anhelos con la posibilidad, desde ayer real, de subirse al escenario con los mismísimos Frida, Agnetha, Björn y Benny para cantar y bailar al son de Mamma Mia!, Dancing Queen o Super Trouper.

Las nuevas tecnologías digitales son las responsables. Cualquier nostálgico de la banda que propulsó su nombre tras conquistar el Festival de Eurovisión (1974) tiene la oportunidad de acompañar como intérprete a los Abba virtuales, gracias a un holograma en tres dimensiones que se ha erigido en la gran atracción de una muestra en Londres consagrada al grupo nórdico. La exposición, titulada Abbaworld, brinda también la posibilidad de infiltrar la propia imagen en la portada de uno de los discos que protagonizaron un fenómeno mundial de ventas, la friolera de 400 millones de copias. O de sumergirse en la historia del grupo a través de la veintena de salas que recrean en el palacio de exposiciones de Earls Court los escenarios en los que se estrenaron o los estudios donde grabaron sus canciones, además del despliegue genuino del vestuario que lucieron en escena.
Björn Ulvaeus y Anni-Frid Lyngstad acudieron a la capital británica para auspiciar ese parque temático de la nostalgia, que ambiciona una gira mundial para acabar recalando como exposición permanente en Estocolmo. El objetivo pasa por mantener viva una franquicia que ha procurado en la última década más de 40 millones de espectadores al musical Mamma Mia!, con unas ganancias que superan los 1.400 millones de euros.
