In 1974, ABBA won Eurovision with "WATERLOO". It was the big breakthrough for what would become one of the world's biggest bands. ABBA's success opened the door for other Swedish artists and songwriters to succeed abroad, and to this day Swedish music makers continue to conquer the world. But what is it about Sweden that makes our pop so successful? Benjamin Ingrosso, Nina Persson (The Cardigans), Ulf Ekberg (Ace of Base)... among others give their views in this documentary about it.

Cuando se cumple 20 años de sus primeros éxitos, regresan los suecos de Ace of Base con el álbum "HIDDEN GEMS" ("Joyas escondidas") que recoge 10 canciones que no se conocían hasta ahora más cinco caras-B y bonus tracks que no todo el mundo disponía, grabados entre 1991 y 2006 y que nunca se había incluído en los álbumes previos.
When it's 20 years of their first hits, Swedish band Ace of Base are back with an album "HIDDEN GEMS" which collects 10 previously unreleased songs plus five rare B-sides and bonus tracks not available worldwide, recorded between 1991 and 2006 and which had never made it into previous albums.

Hacía tiempo que no sabíamos nada de ellos. Lo último que publicamos aquí fue el cumpleaños de Jenny Berggren coincidiendo con la salida de un single suyo en solitario. Su hermana Linn ya se había apeado del grupo en el 2007, incluso habían actuado como trío hasta que en 2009, Jenny también decidió independizarse, al no poder firmar contrato discográfico como trío. Así pasaron los años, hasta que los chicos Jonas y Ulf decidieron reclutar dos vocalistas más jóvenes Clara Hagman y Julia Williamson, con quienes editaron un álbum "THE GOLDEN RATIO" en septiembre 2010 y un primer single "ALL FOR YOU" ("Todo por ti"), que os presentamos hoy. ¡Suena bien!
We didn't know anything about them for a long time. The latest we posted here was Jenny Berggren's birthday together with the release of her solo-single. Her sister Linn had already abandoned the group in 2007. They had even performed as a trio until 2009, when Jenny also decided to go solo, since the band could not get a record contract as a trio. Jonas and Ulf have since recruited two new female vocalists, Clara Hagman and Julia Williamson. The new line-up released their first album together "THE GOLDEN RATIO" in September 2010, and a first single "ALL FOR YOU", which we present today. Sounds great!
El cantante y compositor Albert Hammond edita un recopilatorio "LEGEND" ("Leyenda") con todos los grandes éxitos que ha compuesto a lo largo de más de 40 años de carrera y que bien ha cantado él o ha cedido y se han convertido en éxitos en otras voces: Karina, Luz Casal, Agnetha Fältskog, Ace of Base, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, Elton John, Joe Cocker, Diana Ross, Johnny Cash, K.D. Lang, Julio Iglesias and Josh Groban..., y más recientemente a Duffy. Y como no, siguiendo la moda, para versionarlos se ha hecho acompañar por otros cantantes. El disco sale en cuatro versiones distintas, según los países. Y hoy incluimos la lista de canciones del formato español (2CDs) y una entrevista concedida hoy al programa de la Cadena Ser "A vivir que son dos días". Un disco recomendable.

Black, cuyo nombre real es Colin Vearncombe, tuvo en 1987 un éxito europeo con esta canción "IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE" ("Es una vida maravillosa"), canción que ya había sido editada unos años antes en otra versión. El video se grabó en el paseo marítimo y faro de la localidad inglesa de New Brighton, Wallasey. Ha tenido versiones de Ace of Base, por ejemplo (pero no hemos encontrado audio ni video).
Black, whose real name is Colin Vearncombe, had a European-wide hit in 1987 with this song "IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE", song which had already been released a few years before in a different version. The video was recorded at the New Brighton promenade and lighthouse at Wallasey. It's been covered by other artists such as Ace of Base (but we haven't found either audio or video of it).
