 Esta tarde asistió al concierto "Abba Voyage" el único miembro que vive del legendario grupo Bee Gees, Barry Gibb quien coincidiera con Abba en el histórico Concierto de UNICEF en por de la infancia en 1979.

This evening the only living member of the legendary band the Bee Gees, Barry Gibb attended the "Abba Voyage" concert. He had performed together with Abba in the historic UNICEF Concert in 1979 in favour of children.

Se cumplen ahora 40 años del concierto y disco de "Music for UNICEF" que se celebró en el cuartel general de las Naciones Unidas de Nueva York y donde actuaron, entre otros, Abba, Bee Gees, Olivia Newton-John, Earth Wind & Fire, Rod Stewart, Donna Summer... Supuso el estreno mundial de "CHIQUITITA", cuyos derechos fueron cedidos a UNICEF.

The concert and album "Music for UNICEF" was held 40 years ago at the United Nations headquarters in New York. Among others, Abba, Bee Gees, Olivia Newton-John, Earth Wind & Fire, Rod Stewart, Donna Summer performed there. It was the worldwide premiere of "CHIQUITITA" whose rights were given to UNICEF.

"CHIQUITITA" SIGUE RECAUDANDO PARA / continues raising funds for UNICEF [Actualización/Update: LALEH'S "CHIQUITITA" & BJÖRN @ NEW YORK, 20-NOV-2014]

Hoy, 20 de Noviembre es una fecha importante, es el 25º aniversario de la Convención de los Derechos del Niño y el 35º aniversario de la Gala "Music for UNICEF" de 1979, en donde participaron Abba, Bee Gees, Olivia Newton-John entre otros. Hoy habrá una gala en Nueva York cuyo programa se cita más abajo en inglés y con un video en el que se verá la retransmisión en vivo.
Y con este motivo, "CHIQUITITA" continuará recaudando fondos para UNICEF. 35 años después de que Abba decidiese ceder todos los royalties de esta canción a UNICEF, Abba The Museum se ha unido a UNICEF Suecia para recaudar fondos adicionales para combatir la descriminación hacia las niñas. En muchas partes del mundo las niñas son descriminadas mucho antes de nacer.

Se puede ayudar escuchando la canción "CHIQUITITA" en YouTube, Spotify o iTunes, en el museo o en pressplaytogive.com. Cada vez que escuches la canción, se dará dinero para proyectos que apoyen los derechos de las niñas. En estos 35 años, la canción ha recaudado 4 millones de dólares.

En los próximos 5 años, también se invitará a artistas contemporáneos a los parcialmente reconstruídos Estudios Polar del museo para regrabar su propia versión de la canción. La primera ha sido Laleh.

Today, November 20th is an important date, the 25th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the 35th anniversary of the Show "Music for Unicef" of 1979, where Abba, Bee Gees, Olivia Newton-John performed among others. Today there'll be another show in New York to celebrate, the programme is announced below with a live broadcast of the event on video.

Due to all this, "CHIQUITITA" will continue raising more funds for UNICEF. 35 years after Abba decided to give all royalties from this song to UNICEF, Abba The Museum has now teamed up with UNICEF Sweden to raise additional funds to combar discrimination against young girls. In many parts of the world young girls are discriminated even before they are born.

You can help by listening the song "CHIQUITITA" on YouTube, Sportify or iTunes, at the museum booths or on pressplaytogive.com. Every time you play the song, money will be given to projects that support the rights of young girls. In these 35 years it has raised 4 million dollars.

Over the next 5 years, contemporary artists will also be invited to the partially reconstructed Polar Studio at the museum to rerecord their own version of the song. The first such artist is Laleh.

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Official Singles Chart, we reveal The Official Top 20 Biggest Selling Groups Of All Time!

In just over a week we’ll be blowing out the candles on a very big birthday cake to celebrate 60th glittering years of the Official Singles Chart. To whet your appetites for the big day, we’ve already revealed the Official Top 10 biggest selling male artists and biggest selling female singles artists of all time, and to today we reveal The Official Top 20 Biggest Selling Groups Of All Time!

The Beatles top the chart with a combined singles sales total of 22.1 million singles. This makes John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr not only the biggest selling group in the history of the Official Singles Chart, but with a 400,000 lead over Elvis Presley, it also the biggest selling act of all time, too.

To date The Beatles have enjoyed 31 Top 40 hits (including 17 Official Number 1 singles). Their first hit was Love Me Do which peaked at Number 17 in 1962 (it would eventually climb up to Number 4 in 1982 after being re-issued to celebrate its 20th anniversary). The Beatles' biggest selling track, however, is their fifth single, She Loves You, which peaked at Number 1 in 1963.

The UK’s second biggest selling singles group of all time is Queen. The quartet have a combined sales total of 12.8 million singles, and their biggest selling track is of course Bohemian Rhapsody.

Taken from the band’s fourth album, 1975’s A Night At The Opera, Bohemian Rhapsody reached the top of the Official Singles Chart on November 2 of that year giving the band their first ever Number 1 single. It would occupy the top spot for nine weeks and sold over a million copies. Following the death of lead singer Freddie Mercury in November 1991, Bohemian Rhapsody would return to the top of the Official Singles Chart. In its five week stand, it sold nearly a million copies again, making it the only single to become an Official Christmas Number 1 on two separate occasions and claim the top spot in four different calendar years (1975, 1976, 1991 and 1992). The band’s Greatest Hits album is the UK’s biggest selling album of all time.

ABBA are at Number 3 with a combined sales total of 11.3 million copies. The Swedish group, who disbanded in 1982, enjoyed 25 Top 40 hits (including nine Number 1s). Their biggest selling track is 1976’s Dancing Queen.

The Top 5 is completed by The Rolling Stones (Number 4) who have a combined sales total of 10.1 million singles, and Oasis (9.079 million combined single sales) who have leapfrogged Take That (9.078 million) to take fifth place.

ROBIN GIBB MUERE TAMBIÉN / also dies

El pasado 15 de abril escribíamos: Robin Gibb, ex componente del grupo británico Bee Gees, se encuentra hospitalizado en Londres en estado de coma a causa de una neumonía. La leyenda del pop permanece en una clínica privada arropado por su esposa Dwina, su hermano Barry y sus tres hijos. Gibb, de 62 años, consiguió recuperarse de un cáncer de colón e hígado diagnosticado en 2010. Hace dos semanas fue sometido a una operación intestinal, por lo que se vió obligado a cancelar su asistencia el pasado martes en Londres al estreno de «Titanic Requiem», un álbum compuesto junto con su hijo RJ Gibb sobre el hundimiento del famoso transatlántico. Hoy lamentablemente confirmamos su muerte.

The past 15th April we wrote: Former member of the group Bee Gees, Robin Gibb is seriously ill in hospital in London due to a pneumonia.Pop legend is in a private hospital accompanied by his wife Dwina, his brother Barry and his three children. Gibb, 62, had recovered from a colon and liver cancer diagnosed in 2010. Two weeks ago he underwent intestinal surgery, so he had to cancel his attendance to the "Titanic Requiem" premiere last Tuesday in London. This project is an album composed together with his son RJ Gibb about the sinking of the famous cruise-liner. Unfortunately today we confirm his death.

ONE OF A KIND - FIRST GENERATION AUDIO. This is the concert segment IN TRUE STEREO from the 1978 special "Olivia!" Just prior to shooting this segment with a live orchestra, the audio guy asked if I would like a stereo feed of the sound. Of course I said yes and fed two three-quarter inch VCRs with the special feed. Stereo TV was not available widely until the mid-1980s. After completion of the special, I manually synced the 2" master of the show to my ¾" master and, viola, a stereo version of the concert with Andy Gibb, ABBA, and Olivia! Shot just days before it aired, the ABC-TV special "Olivia!" was the marathon of all television specials I edited while in Hollywood. For 36 nonstop hours, director Steve Binder (my all time favorite) and the post-production crew dashed toward an unbelievable deadline and beat it. This is the entire concert segment. The air version begins at 3:01 and ends prior to "Thank you for the Music" (which was used for closing credits). Please select 480p and full screen (and don't forget headphones!); the quality is matchless!

La banda norteamericana Scissor Sisters están de estreno con un nuevo álbum "NIGHT WORK" ("Trabajo nocturno") y su nuevo single "FIRE WITH FIRE" ("Fuego con fuego"). Se formaron en 2011. Su estilo va desde el disco, glam rock, pop y la música del ambiente club de Nueva York.

Frida y Benny recibieron de manos de Barry y Robin Gibb, y en nombre de todo el grupo, la distinción que incluye a Abba en el Rock'n'roll Hall of Fame anoche en una ceremonia celebrada en el Waldorf Astoria de Nueva York. Incluimos fotos y un video con unas pequeñas declaraciones de ambos. Benny, dijo: "Estas canciones nos han traido todo el camino hasta este Rock'n'roll Hall of Fame, y hablo en nombre de todos, estamos profundamente honrados". Frida & Benny received from Barry & Robin Gibb, on behalf of the whole group, the award that inducts Abba into the Rock'n'roll Hall of Fame last night at a gala held at the Waldorf Astoria, New York. We include photos and a video with some short comments by both. Benny said: "These songs have brought us all the way into the great Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and I speak for all of us ... we are deeply, deeply honored." Frida, commented: "My grandson in the audience, is a heavy metal musician but he still appreciates grandma's music. "It's too late now, ABBA will never perform together again". And as grand finale Benny played the piano while Faith Hill sang "THE WINNER TAKES IT ALL".
