Hi Sharleen! How are you keeping?
Very well, thank you!So, you’re playing Arthurs Day tonight…
I am indeed. And uh… and where is that?
I don’t think I’m allowed to tell you yet where we’re playing. All I can say is that I’m in Limerick at the moment…Intriguing. So what else are Texas up to these days?
We have just finished making a new album, so we’re mixing that. And we played festivals throughout the summer.Do you guys like playing in Ireland?
Of course! It’s always good fun and there’s always good audiences. It’s been a while since we’ve played in Ireland so it’s good to be back.Be honest. Do you drink Guinness yourself?
I do actually. I don’t tend to drink Guinness much when I’m in London but I’ll definitely have a Guinness when I’m here because it does taste very different.Any moments that stand out over the band’s career?
Christ, there’s so many. Probably the most stand out thing is that we have been going so long; we’ve had such a long career. Not many are so lucky to have such a long career in the business. So the fact that people are still interested in seeing us and still buying our records, I think that’s pretty special. It certainly is. 25 years going, you must have had the odd embarrassing moment on stage…
Not really. It’s kind of weird. I’m 45 years old and there’s nothing in particular standing out. What would you be doing if you weren’t in Texas?
Oh, I don’t know. I have no idea. I’m in Texas. I’ve been in Texas for such a long time that I don’t know. Before I was in Texas I was a hairdresser, so I did have a job before I was doing this, but I can’t say I’d still be hairdressing! I’ve been really lucky in my life; I pushed hard and worked hard and I got a lot of pleasure out of it.Driven indeed. So what do you do in your spare time?
I don’t really have that much spare time to be honest, because I have a ten year old, and Texas can be pretty full-on so when ever I have time outside of Texas I’m usually spending the time with my daughter! I also just like to chill out, relax and watch movies.Do you have any crazy stories from touring?
Probably nothing I’d be able to say!How do you get on as a band?
Well, the fact that we are still together after 25 years pretty much says it all! When will the new album be out?
The album will be out in March and at the moment it will be called The Conversation. Thanks, Sharleen!
