Mick Hucknall, líder de Simply Red, afirmó que la banda se convirtió en una prisión para él. Después de 25 años no tiene más ideas para el grupo y prefiere dedicarse a la promoción de su primer disco en solitario. En octubre del año pasado había anunciado que se separaría del grupo en 2009, el año de su 25 aniversario. Su álbum en solitario "Tribute to Bobby" ("Tributo a Bobby") saldrá el 16 de mayo y revisará 12 canciones del cantante soul de los 60 Bobby Bland.

Mick Hucknall, Simply Red's leader, has said the group has become a prison for him. After 25 years, he hasn't got any more ideas for the band and he prefers to devote himself to the promotion of his first solo-album. Last October he had announced that he'd leave the group in 2009, the year of their 25th anniversary. His solo album "Tribute to Bobby" will be released on May 16th and will cover 12 songs of 60s soul singer Bobby Bland.

El 17 de Mayo se celebra el primer concierto de la Fundación ALAS (América Latina en Acción Solidaria) bajo el titulo de "El concierto de los niños". Conciertos gratuitos para conseguir poder apoyar la expansión para el desarrollo temprano de los niños. El concierto se celebrará simultáneamente entre El Zócalo de la Ciudad de México con capacidad para 200 mil personas y Costanera Sur en Buenos Aires, Argentina con capacidad para 120 mil. Entre otros artistas participarán: Alejandro Sanz, Aleks Syntek, Ana Torroja, Jorge Dréxler, Maná, Miguel Bosé, Shakira y un largo etc...

The first concert of the ALAS (Latin America in Helping Action) Foundation will be held on 17th May entitled "The children's concert". Free concerts to help the extention for the early development of children. The concert will take place simultaneously between El Zócalo at Mexico City with place for 200 thousand people and Costanera South at Buenos Aires, Argentina with place for 120 thousand. Among many others, we'll be able to see: Alejandro Sanz, Alex Syntek, Ana Torroja, Jorge Dréxler, Maná, Miguel Bosé, Shakira, etc...

Tras más de un año de éxito con "Papito", Bosé ha anunciado que tras finalizar la gira latinoamericana, se publicará un reedición del disco con nuevos dúos, como el ya mencionado con Gloria Gaynor, y otro con Joaquín Sabina. También se reafirmó en que no volverá a incluir sus éxitos en futuros conciertos, quiere plantearse la música de un modo diferente y no está dispuesto a seguir con el ritmo que marca el mercado de la música. También ha confirmado la publicación de dos libros suyos. Bosé, no para!

After more than a year of success with "Papito", Bosé has announced that when finishing his South American tour, there will be a re-release edition of the album including new duets, as the already mentioned with Gloria Gaynor, and another one with Joaquín Sabina. He also reassured that he will never include his hits in future concerts, he wants to consider his music in a different way and he doesn't want to follow showbiz routines. He also confirmed he'll be publishing two books. Bosé can't stop!

...y sigue el éxito de Papito! Bosé es nº1 de los4o Principales con su dueto familiar con Bimba Bosé, y retoma su gira americana donde acabar de actuar de nuevo en México. Pero además, ha grabado un nuevo dueto, esta vez con Gloria Gaynor, con quien grabó "Hacer por hacer" con la colaboración de Nile Rogers de Chic y producido por Andrés Levin. No sabemos como se comercializará esta canción...

But apart from this, he has recorded a new duet, this time with Gloria Gaynor, with who he sang "Hacer por hacer" ("Just doing it without aim") featuring Nile Rogers from Chic and produced by Andres Levin. It's not known how this song will be released...

Nuevo disco de Amaral, muy pronto / Amaral's new record very soon

Gato negro, dragón rojo es lo nuevo de Amaral en Mayo / Black cat, red dragon is Amaral's latest work due in May.

Amaral, Eva y Juan, están en los estudios Real World en Box, Wiltshire, cerca de Bristol acabando de grabar su nuevo disco "Gato negro, dragón rojo", que contará con muchas colaboraciones, como la de Pereza en el tema "El artista del alambre", y también las voces de los hermanos Ferreiro y de Xoel López (Deluxe). El disco saldrá en mayo, tendrá por primera vez la voz de Juan y hay más guitarras acústicas y eléctricas y el primer single será "Kamikaze".

Amaral, Eva & Juan, are at the Real World Studios at Box, Wiltshire, near Bristol finishing the recording of their new album "Gato negro, dragon rojo" ("Black cat, red dragon"), which features many contributions, such as Pereza in the song "El artista del alambre" ("The artist on the string"), and also the voices of the Ferreiro brothers and Xoel Lopez (Deluxe). The record will be released in May and will have Juan's voice for the first time and more acoustic and electric guitars and the first single will be "Kamikaze".

Ayer se celebraron en el Auditorio Miguel Delibes de Valladolid los XII Premios de la Música en los que resultaron premiados entre otros: Fito, Chambao, Conchita, Pereza, Marlango, Manuel Alejandro...

De los que nos gustan, dos de los grandes: Luz, mejor canción por "Soy" de su último disco "Vida tóxica". Luz fue muy aplaudida al recoger el galardón y aclamada por su exitosa vuelta a los escenarios tras haber superado su enfermedad.

Bosé, no recogió premios por estar ausente, pero recibió tres al mejor técnico de sonido, a la mejor producción audiovisual por "Papitour" y mejor album por su archiconocido y premiado "Papito".

Last night the XIIth edition of the Spanish Music Awards was held at the Miguel Delibes Audiorium in Valladolid. Many artists were awarded, such as: Fito, Chambao, Pereza, Marlango, manuel Alejando... among others.

Two of our favourites were also awarded: Luz, best ong for "Soy" ("I am") from her latest album "Vida tóxica" ("Toxic life"). Luz received an enthusiastic ovation when collecting her prize y many congratulations after her succesful stage comeback after recovering from her serious illness.

Bosé, didn't collect his awards as he didn't attend the show, but he was awarded three, for best sound engineer, the best audiovisual production for "Papitour" and best album for his really famous y awarded "Papito".

Se dice, se comenta que Ana Torroja esta trabajando en su nuevo álbum previsto para el próximo otoño (...?), aunque sin fecha definitiva. Quiere retomar su carrera en solitario tras el paréntesis de "Me cuesta tanto olvidarte" (2006) donde reversionaba los clásicos de Mecano y su gira "La fuerza del destino". Será su cuarto álbum en solitario, sin contar su recopilatorio en solitario "Esencial" (2005). Detallaremos más en cuanto sepamos... Sus últimas apariciones públicas han sido para cantar en directo con Bosé en el concierto de "Papitour" en Madrid el pasado verano, y las fotos para la revista de moda "Woman" posando con Marta Sánchez para el reportaje sobre los artistas y la moda.

It's said that Ana Torroja is working on her new album due for the autumn (...?), though without any fixed dates. She wants to get back to her solo career after "Me cuesta tanto olvidarte" ("It's so hard to forget you") (2006) where she revisited Mecano's classic hits and her tour "La fuerza del destino" ("Destiny's fate"). It will be her fourth solo-album, not counting her solo compilation "Esencial" ("Essencial") (2005). We'll be giving more details as soon as we know... Her latest public appearances have been, singing live with Bosé in his Madrid "Papitour" concert last summer, and the photos for the fashion magazine "Woman" together with Marta Sánchez for the report on artists and fashion.

Luz dará dos macroconciertos para recaudar fondos para la fundación IMABIBS que investiga contra el cancer. Los conciertos serán en Málaga (27-Junio-Plaza de Toros de la Malagueta) y Madrid (12-Sept-Plaza de Toros de las Ventas). Los conciertos contarán con otros artistas invitados por ella, varias pantallas gigantes y otras sorpresas.

Luz will hold two megaconcerts to raise funds for the IMABIBS foundation that does cancer research. The concerts will be held in Malaga (27th-June-Malagueta Bullring) and Madrid (12th-Sept-Las Ventas Bullring). Other artists invited by her will appear in them, several huge screens and other surprises.

Habrá que verlo...

Sole releases a second single from her solo album, it's "Silba" ("Whistle") composed by her younger brother. She'll also make a new video to promote it, together with the actress Marta Belenguer who appears in a video with a road movie atmosphere in which two friends help and assist each other without conditions. We'll have to see it...

Otra cantante que se independiza es Sharleen Spiteri, cantante-líder del grupo escocés Texas. El grupo parece que no se ha deshecho definitivamente, sino que es un paréntesis... (?) Lo cierto es que Sharleen ya tiene preparado su disco en solitario bajo el título de "Melody" ("Melodía") y el primer single "All the times I cried" ("Todas las veces que lloré"). Es un estilo años 50, tipo Nancy Sinatra y Françoise Hardy... es un sonido completamente nuevo con una gran banda, cuerdas y metal, que ha grabado en varios estudios (Satelite, Park Lane) y en su casa de Glasgow. Compuesto y producido por ella misma, con la ayuda de gente como John McElhone, compañero de Texas y Bernard Butler. El single se publicará el 23 de junio y el álbum el 7 de julio. Más canciones serán: "Try" ("Intenta"), "I wonder" ("Me pregunto"), "Keep me waiting" ("Hazme seguir esperando") y "Where did I go wrong?" ("¿Dónde me equivoqué?).

Another singer who goes solo is Sharleen Spiteri, lead singer of Scottish band Texas. The group doesn't seem to have broken up definitely, it's only a momentary stand-by... (?) The truth is that Sharleen has already finished her first solo album called "Melody" and her first single "All the times I cried". It's 1950s doo wop style, kind of Nancy Sinatra meets Françoise Hardy... so it's a completely new sound with a big band, strings, brass. She has recorded it in several studios (Satelite, Park Lane) and at her home in Glasgow. Composed and produced by herself with the help of people such as John McElhone, bandmate from Texas and Bernard Butler. The single will be released on 23rd June and the album on 7th July. Ola Brunkert (Estocolmo, 1946-Artá (Mallorca) 2008), el que fuera batería del mítico grupo sueco ABBA, habiendo participado en la mayoría de sus grabaciones y acompañando al grupo en sus giras del '77, '79 y '80, murió accidentalmente ayer en su casa de Artá, Mallorca. Al parecer cayó accidentalmente sobre una vidriera y se cortó la garganta, desangrándose en un intento de pedir ayuda. Se comenta también que vivía sumido en una depresión tras la muerte de su esposa hace unos meses.

Björn comentó que eran una noticia muy triste porque había sido muy importante para Abba desde los primeros años. Lo describió como amable, humilde y creativo. Ola, descanse en paz.

Ola Brunkert (Stcokholm, 1946-Artá (Majorca) 2008), drummer in the Swedish pop group ABBA, who appeared in most of their recordings and had accompanied them in their '77, '79 & '80 tours, died accidentally yesterday in his house of Arta, Majorca. He seems to have fallen on a window glass cutting his throat, bleeding to death while he tried to seek some help. He's also said to be feeling depressed since his wife's death a few months ago.

Björn commented that it was some very sad news because he had been very important to Abba since the early years. He described him as kind, humble and very creative. Ola, rest in peace.

The "Peace without Frontiers" concert, organized by Juanes, also had the presence of Miguel Bosé, Alejandro Sanz, Carlos Vives & Juan Luís Guerra, among others... Let it all be for PEACE!

Ana Torroja es número 1 en Alemania gracias a una colaboración con el artista alemán Schiller. Ana es la única española que colabora con él en un doble álbum con DVD que recoge composiciones de este artista. Es su quinto álbum "Sehnsucht" que se editó allá el pasado 22 de febrero. La colaboración de Ana se llama "¿Por qué te vas?" y se puede escuchar el la página web de Ana, así como también se puede ver su foto con Marta Sánchez para el reportaje de la revista Woman.

Ana Torroja is number 1 in Germany thanks to a collaboration with German artist Schiller. Ana is the only Spanish artist that appears with him in his double album with DVD that recollects compositions from this artist. It's his fifth album "Sehnsucht" that was released there on 22nd February. Ana's song is called "¿Por qué te vas?" ("Why are you leaving?") and it can be heard in Ana's website, and you can also see her photo together with Marta Sanchez for the Woman magazine report.

Mañana día 5 sale el segundo disco en solitario, primero tras decir adiós a Presuntos: "La felicidad". Y ya va apareciendo en los distintos medios: el pasado sábado en la revista "Mujer hoy" amplia entrevista donde habla de la crisis de rupturas que ha pasado... (dejar Presuntos, divorcio...) y de su renacer profesional. El próximo 14-F se confirma su aparición en el programa musical de La2 "No disparen al pianista" donde presentará en directo canciones de su nuevo disco. Seguiremos atentos...

Tomorrow 5th February Sole's second solo-album, first after leaving Presuntos, "La felicidad" ("Happiness") will be released. And she starts to appear on the different media: last Saturday in a indepth interview on "Mujer hoy", talking about her past break-up crisis... (leaving Presuntos, her divorce...) and her professional rebirth. Next February 14th, she'll be on the musical programme on La2 "No disparen al pianista" where she'll present live songs from her new album. We'll watch out for more...
