Acabamos de enterarnos por medio del biógrafo de Abba, Carl Magnus Palm, de la muerte del guitarrista Lasse Wellander que tocó en la mayoría de los álbumes del grupo y también en sus giras. DEP.
We've just learned through Abba's biographer, Carl magnus Palm, of the death of guitarist Lasse Wellander, who played in most of the albums of the band and also on their tours. RIP.
The death of Lasse Wellander (1952-2023), announced just a couple of hours ago, comes as a complete shock. He was never less than a true gentleman whenever I communicated with him: we had a brief email conversation a few weeks ago (on his initiative), so his passing was unexpected indeed.
Lasse was, of course, ABBA's main guitarist from 1975 and beyond and is an integral part of what we have come to know as the ABBA sound. I'm glad that, after the release of I Still Have Faith In You and Don't Shut Me Down, in 2021, I sent him a spontaneous email, letting him know how happy I was to hear the "sound of Wellander" on these new songs.
Thanks for everything, Lasse. [Carl Magnus Palm]
After a short period of illness our beloved friend and the absolutely brilliant guitarist Lasse Wellander has passed away.
He was the most caring and lovely person and a truly devoted musician. Please take a moment and listen to all his fantastic guitar playing for ABBA – from the early years to Voyage.
Our condolences goes to his family.
