Video interview Agnetha @ "Skavlan":
Agnetha Fältskog: Was forced to retreat
Now Agnetha Fältskog is back and talks about those difficult years
She is an anxious, worried and sensitive person who prefers silence.
Now Agnetha Fältskog, 62, talks about the crisis which forced her to retreat.
-I felt I had to take care of myself, she says in tonight's "Skavlan".
When an artist has retreated, it is often said they will return after a few years of silence.
For Agnetha Fältskog it couldn't be any more true.
When the singer tonight is a guest on Swedish Television's "Skavlan", she opens up about why she's seeking a life in silence.
-There was a time when I felt I had had too many sounds in my head. Too many songs and too many lyrics. I think nowadays there has been quite a lot, not irritating sounds, but still a lot of sounds at the same time. It is hard for me to manage it so I felt I need some silence.
Agnetha Fältskog lives on Ekerö outside Stockholm. It is quiet there, she thinks. Very quiet.
-It feels good. Then I can go to the sounds if I need to. I can go to the city sometimes.
Was longing for her children
In her conversation with the Norwegian host Agnetha Fältskog talks about her years with ABBA. About her longing to come home to her children, a feeling she often had during the touring around the world.
She also talks about how it became too much during difficult periods in her life and she felt she had to get away from it all.
-I had a period of time when I thought it was a bit difficult. Then I felt I had to retreat a bit. Take it easy and experience the silence. It was right before my 50th birthday, because I felt time had passed by so fast. In some way it is such a defining moment to turn 50. So then there was a time when I felt "I had done so many things and I had to take care of myself".
Agnetha Fältskog has previously said how she conquered her fear of flying with the help from a therapist. In the program the singer admits as a person she's anxious and worried.
-I've received a bit too much of it I think. But what I think is positive about it is that I can express a lot of it, that I am an emotional person, in the songs. That is positive.
Love comes and goes
This May Agnetha Fältskog releases her new album "A" - an album she never thought would be. The songs on the album are mostly about the same subject: Love.
But when being asked if love has made her mostly happy or mostly sad, the singer states:
-Difficult, a private question. But it comes and goes.
