EL NUEVO DISCO DE ROXETTE NO ANTES DEL 2011 / Roxette's new album won't be out before 2011

Hay novedades sobre Roxette. Siguen inmersos en una gira que les está llevando con éxito por diferentes localidades de Europa, la Princesa Victoria de Suecia cuenta con ellos para su gala nupcial y también están trabajando en el nuevo disco. La grabación se realiza en el estudio Aerosol Grey Machine en Skane, al sur de Suecia. Per ha comentado que la grabación va muy bien y que tienen entre manos un disco excellente. Está sonando muy bien. Grabarán 16 temas. Pero Per no cree que el disco salga este año, ya que piensan descansar durante el verano, aparte de algún que otro concierto, piensan tenerlo acabado para octubre, tal y como lo ven ahora, pero el álbum no se editará hasta febrero del 2011. Puede que haya un single para navidad. Y también comentó que la voz de Marie está fenomenal.

There are new about Roxette. They continue with their tour which is taking them successfully around different locations throughout Europe, Sweden's Princess Victoria counts on them to take part in her wedding gala and they are also working on their new record. The recordings are taking place at the Aerosol Grey Machine studios in Skane, Southern Sweden. Per has commented that the recording is going very well and that they've got a killer album on their hands. Most things feel tremendous. They'll record 16 tracks. On the question if the album will be out before Christmas he responds that they're taking a break over the summer, and they'll be done in October the way it seems now. The album will likely be released in February 2011. And hopefully they'll pop out a single for X-mas. He also said that Marie's vocals are exceptional.

BOSÉ CARDIO-TOUR 2010: Fechas en España / Spanish dates

Tras tres años de éxito con "Papitour", Miguel Bosé regresa a los escenarios con "Cardio Tour", una gira en la que llevará sus conciertos a los más importantes recintos de España y Latinoamérica.

Bosé primero rodará por Latinoamérica. Comenzando el 5 de mayo en Colombia hasta el 8, después continuará por México desde el 16 al 1 de junio. A partir del 14 de julio, el artista se subirá a los escenarios españoles.

After three succesful years with "Papitour", Miguel Bosé is back on stage with "Cardio Tour", a tour which will take his concerts to the most important venues in Spain and Latin America.

Bosé will kick off in Latin America. Starting on May 5th in Colombia until the 8th, later he'll continue through Mexico from the 16th to 1st June. From July, 14th onwards, the artists will be up on Spanish stages.

BJÖRN ENTREVISTADO PARA PERIÓDICO CANADIENSE / Björn interviewed for Canadian newspaper

Björn Ulvaeus has given an interview to Canadian newspaper "The Globe & Mail" because of the re-opening of the "Mamma Mia!" musical in Toronto. Interview enclosed.

"BJÖRN IS STILL A SUPER TROUPER"

When Judy Craymer first approached Bjorn Ulvaeus about taking his classic compositions and turning them into a stage musical, the ABBA co-founder balked.
Concerned the show would be a tell-all about the famed Swedish group – which broke up in 1982 – Ulvaeus and his long-time songwriting collaborator Benny Andersson only agreed to Craymer’s proposal once she assured them the production would be a totally original musical. After countless rewrites of the script (by Catherine Johnson) the show was finally ready to go, and debuted to wide acclaim April 6, 1999 at the prestigious Prince Edward Theatre in London’s West End.
In a phone call from his home in Stockholm, Ulvaeus admits he was a quivering mass of nerves that night, since he was unsure an audience would appreciate the light-hearted tale of a single mom and her daughter seeking to find the identity of her real dad. He worried for naught. Mamma Mia! has been seen by over 40 million people worldwide, and has premiered in more cities faster than any other musical in history – and this week, the musical returns to Toronto for a five-week run.
The 65-year-old Swede talked to The Globe about the show’s lasting appeal, his friendship with the ABBA band members (including ex-wife, Agnetha Faltskog), his elation when Meryl Streep accepted the lead in the movie, and his new obsession, his three grandchildren (including one babbling away in the background).
So how did the musical actually come about?
Judy approached me at the end of the eighties, but with an idea for a TV program. It wasn’t a musical at all. That didn’t go anywhere. Then Judy introduced me to Catherine Johnson, who is dark, funny, clever and witty – and I thought perfect to write a musical. Benny and I had ground rules: There could be no changes to the lyrics or the music. And I made it clear that if at any time I felt this wasn’t good enough, or that it would hurt the catalogue of songs or the group in any way, I’d pull the plug.
But it turned out to be great fun. The fact that this little show –– which we all thought would have a limited run –– is where it is now, well, it’’s quite incredible.
The London production is now in its 11th year. On Broadway, its ninth. And it’s returning to Toronto, where it’s already grossed over $170-million and been seen by more than three million people. What is Mamma Mia!’s appeal?
The timing was right. Most shows during the ‘‘80s were quite sombre, such as Les Misérables and Phantom of the Opera. This was light and funny, bright and happy. Plus the audiences knew all the songs. But mostly I think it’s because of the story. I’ve heard critics who have dismissed Mamma Mia! as simplistic. But that’s stupid, because it’s a great story for these songs.
Describe opening night in London.
The first time we saw it with an audience was the preview, and none of us knew what to expect. We had done so many interviews, explaining this was not a show about ABBA. But I bet half the audience still thought that’s what it was. I was watching people in the crowd and at first they didn’t know what the hell to make of it. You could see the puzzlement and I was very worried. Then after about five or 10 minutes, I could see people starting to smile. And I’ll never forget that moment, because it was such a relief. You and Benny had some influence on the actors chosen for the feature film.
Did you think Meryl Streep would take the bait?
We knew she liked it because she had written us a long letter saying how much she loved [the stage version]. Originally, the three female dynamos were going to be younger, like the musical. Then someone came up with the brilliant idea of making them older. And the dream, then, of course, was Meryl. We knew she could sing. So we asked her. And she said yes, just like that. It was very daring of her. And we were over the moon.

Pierce Brosnan has been roasted for his vocals.Do you think that is deserved?
Benny and I both think Pierce has a warm, interesting voice. Very folky. We actually liked his voice. I don’t quite understand it when people say he’s an awful singer. We don’t think he is.
Do you still see the rest of your band?
Well, Benny and I are the best of friends so we see each other at least once a week. Netta [Fältskog] and I have three grandchildren together, so I also see her quite a lot at birthdays, Christmas, etc. Frida [Anni-Frid Lyngstad] travels to Stockholm quite often, and we get together. So we’’re all still good friends. When the band split, it was because we felt there wasn’t the same energy any more.
Is there any truth to talk of a reunion?
None. There are always rumours about that.
Any regrets?
Personal things, definitely, which I wouldn’t like to mention. When it comes to my career in the entertainment business, no. I’’ve been amazingly lucky. After ABBA split, I thought we’d be finished. To be here, now – I still ask myself, how did this happen? My life is full. My grandkids are all here now, swarming around me. And that one making the noise, he’s the second youngest – and he’’s got a good set of lungs.
Mamma Mia! returns to Toronto’’s Princess of Wales theatre April 28 and runs until June 27.

Abba included a couple of instrumental themes in their albums. The most famous was "ARRIVAL", which gave title to their 4th album from 1976. This instrumental song has has several cover versions by other artists, the most famous is Mike Oldfield's, who "copied" the record sleeve with his own helicopter.

24/04/2010: TVE REPITE CONCIERTO "LA PASIÓN" DE LUZ / TVE repeats Luz's "La Pasion" concert

Luz Casal actúa en "No disparen en concierto" de La 2 de TVE. Recientemente Luz actuó en un Especial de TVE en el que cantó en directo algunos de sus mayores éxitos acompañada de su extensa banda. En ese concierto Luz interpretó también varios de los temas que integran "LA PASIÓN". Si no pudiste disfrutar de esta emisión en su momento, ésta es tu oportunidad para ver a Luz. Phil Collins no tira la toalla a pesar de sus problemas de salud, y da los últimos retoques a una nueva colección de versiones del sello Motown, a pesar del daño sufrido en los nervios de sus manos cuyas consecuencias son, entre otras, que tocar la bateria para este artista sea casi imposible.

Se ha especulado mucho sobre el regreso de Genesis. Tony Banks, teclista de la banda, ve poco probable que esto suceda debido a los problemas de salud de Phil Collins. Aún así, Phil se muestra optimista y no pierde la esperanza de mejorar y reunir de nuevo a Genesis.
Phil Collins está empeñado en superar sus problemas físicos y no deja de sorprender a todos aquellos que le daban por retirado. Collins, ya tiene nuevo proyecto, "GOING BACK" ("Regresando"). Despite his health problems, which affect his hand's nerves and make it nearly impossible for him to play the drums, Phil Collins is finishing a new collection of Motown cover versions.

There has been a lot of talking about a Genesis comeback. Tony Banks, the band's keyboardist sees it quite unlikely because of Phil's health problems. Phil, though, is quite optimistic and doesn't lose ths hope of getting better and get the band together again.

Phil is set to recover from his health problems and surprise everyone who thought he was completely retired. Collins' new project "GOING BACK" is his first album in eight years. It's another Motown tribute, origin of the soul, rythm & blues sound.Collins managed to work several days together with the Funk Brothers, the original band of the Motown recording sessions. The record contains a great catalogue of songs which were made popular by stars such as Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Curtis Mayfield, The Four Tops, The Supremes. The album will be out in September but Collins is to premiere them between the 22nd & 25th of June in a series of shows at the Roseland Ballroom in New York. El periódico británico The Express incluyó el pasado sábdo un pequeño artículo, detallando los esfuerzos de los famosos para viajar durante el caos aéreo debido a las cenizas del volcán islandés Eyjafjallajoekull.

"...Pero los famosos más determinados a viajar fueron los ex-componentes de Abba Benny Andersson y Björn Ulvaeus. Los compositores estrenaron su último muscial, Kristina, en Londres el miércoles pasado. Pero cuando todos los vuelos que salían del Reino Unido se cancelaron al día siguiente, Benny y Björn decidieron seguir el camino más largo hasta casa.

Alquilaron un autobús que les llevó a Dover, donde cogieron el ferry a Calais. Allí cogieron un bus a Copenague y un tren les llevó a Malmo y luego a Gotemburgo en Suecia. El viernes tenían previsto tomar otro tren para llevarles a casa en Estocolmo, según informaba su manager a Aftonbladet.

Un vuelo de Londres a Estocolmo les llevaría 2 horas, pero su tortuoso viaje les llevó 30 horas. Mamma mia!

The Express carried a short article on Saturday morning, detailing the efforts of the famous to travel during the disruption to air-travel caused by volcanic ash from the Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajoekull.
" ...But the most determined celebrity travellers were Abba’s Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus. The songwriters launched their new musical, Kristina, in London on Wednesday.
But when all UK flights were grounded the following day, Benny and Bjorn decided to take the long way home.
A coach was hired to take them to Dover, where they caught a ferry to Calais. There they boarded a bus to Copenhagen and a train took them to Malmo and on to Gothenburg in Sweden. On Friday they were due to board another train home to Stockholm, their spokesman told Swedish paper Aftonbladet.
A flight from London to Stockholm would take two hours – but their gruelling journey took 30 hours. Mamma Mia!"

"IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE", BLACK

Black, cuyo nombre real es Colin Vearncombe, tuvo en 1987 un éxito europeo con esta canción "IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE" ("Es una vida maravillosa"), canción que ya había sido editada unos años antes en otra versión. El video se grabó en el paseo marítimo y faro de la localidad inglesa de New Brighton, Wallasey. Ha tenido versiones de Ace of Base, por ejemplo (pero no hemos encontrado audio ni video).

Black, whose real name is Colin Vearncombe, had a European-wide hit in 1987 with this song "IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE", song which had already been released a few years before in a different version. The video was recorded at the New Brighton promenade and lighthouse at Wallasey. It's been covered by other artists such as Ace of Base (but we haven't found either audio or video of it).

ZERMATT UNPLUGGED FESTIVAL: FRIDA EN VIDEO-ENTREVISTA TV / Frida on TV video-interview

El Zermatt Unplugged Festival fundado en 2007 como un festival de cantantes y ccompositores, se ha convertido en un lugar de encuentro para fans de sonido auténticos. Músicos y grupos que incluyen a Suzanne Vega, Chris de Burgh, Alanis Morissette... se han inspirado en el concepto acústico y han hecho su aparición en la carpa del festival y los escenarios de los clubes de este pueblo alpino suizo. El Zermatt Unplugger es el único festival de este tipo en Europa y lo promociona Anni-Frid Princess Reuss, una A de ABBA, y Jon Lord, teclista y co-fundador de Deep Purple, ya que ambos tienen residencia en el pueblo. The London Evening Standard publicó un pequeño artículo referido a la noticia sobre la posible reunión del grupo ABBA.

¿Ahí vamos otra vez...? Er no, dice Benny de ABBA:

Benny Andersson de ABBA ha matizado las insinuaciones que hizo hace un mes sobre la vuelta del legendario grupo sueco.

Andersson hizo que saliese la noticia con titulares en todo el mundo sugiriendo la posibilidad de un regreso al decir: "Sí, por qué no?" Tras el concierto de Kristina hace unas noches en el Royal Albert Hall, ha dicho: "Fue un malentendido. Quizás por mi culpa. Si nos dijeses, "Sabéis, tengo esta buena idea, ¿por qué no retomáis el grupo otra vez?", simplemente diría, "Sí, qué gran idea". Fue una ironía. No tenía la intención de molestar a la gente. Las posibilidades de reunión son nulas".

ABBA's Benny Andersson has backtracked on hints he made last month that the legendary Swedish band could re-form.
Andersson made headlines all over the world when he suggested there could be a way back by saying: "Yeah, why not?" After a performance of Kristina a couple of nights at the Albert Hall, he said: "It was a misunderstanding. Probably my fault. If you were to say to us, 'You know, I have this good idea, why don't you start the old band again?' I'd just say, 'Yes, what a great idea.' It was irony. I didn't mean to upset people. The chances of a reunion are zero."

A Benny le han concedido el honor de componer una canción para la boda el 19 de junio de la Princesa Victoria de Suecia. El día antes de la boda, el Gobierno será el anfitrión de una gala de estado en honor de Victoria y Daniel Westling. Hasta el momento no está claro quien asistirá y quién actuará en el acto.

Benny has been given the honour of writing a special song for the 19th June wedding of Princess Victoria. The day before the wedding. the Swedish Government will host a state gala in honour of Victoria and Daniel Westling. So far it is unclear who will attend and who will perform at the event.

Hace ahora cuarenta años, el 10 de abril de 1970, Paul McCartney hizo oficial la separación de los Beatles en un comunicado en el que anunciaba que los cuatro miembros del grupo más grande de la historia no volverían a tocar juntos. Como dijo John Lennon poco después, el sueño había terminado. En realidad, el grupo había dejado de funcionar varios meses antes, cuando concluyó la grabación del álbum "Abbey Road". Los cuatro beatles estaban ocupados en proyectos personales, pero nadie se atrevía a anunciar al mundo la separación. "No dejé a The Beatles. The Beatles dejaron a The Beatles, pero nadie quiere ser el que dice que la fiesta terminó", decía McCartney en la autobiografía del grupo, "Anthology".

It's 40 years ago today, April 10th 1970, when Paul McCartney made official Beatles' breakup in a press note which announced that the four members of the biggest group in history would never play again. As John Lennon said a bit later, the dream had ended. Actually, the group had stopped working a few months before, when they finished recording the album "Abbey Road". The four beatles were busy working on their personal projects, but nobody dared to anounce their split up. "I didn't leave The Beatles. The Beatles left The Beatles, but nobody wants to be the one who says the party's over", said McCartney in the group's autobiography "Anthology".

ANTONIO VEGA: CONCIERTO HOMENAJE ESTA NOCHE EN MADRID / Tribute concert tonight in Madrid

A casi un mes de celebrarse el primer aniversario de su muerte, se celebra un homenaje lleno de "emoción" y "sorpresas" que promete revivir la "huella única" de Antonio Vega esta noche en el Palacio de Deportes de la Comunidad de Madrid. Organizado por su hermano Carlos Vega y su primo Nacho García Vega, el concierto contará con la participación de más de una veintena de artistas, compañeros y amigos del músico. Los que no puedan acudir a Madrid, tendrán la oportunidad de ver la retransmisión del concierto en directo en los cines Yelmo de localidades como Barcelona, Valencia, Galicia, Málaga, Vitoria, Asturias, Almería o Cádiz, también será emitido por TVE cuando se cumpla el año de su fallecimiento.

Nearly a month before celebrating the first anniversary of his death, a tribute full of "emotion" & "surprises", which promises to relive Antonio Vega's unique memory, will be held tonight at Madrid's Sports Palace. Organized by his brother Carlos Vega & cousin Nacho García Vega, the concert will feature more than twenty of the musician's artists, mates and friends. Those who can't make it to Madrid, will have the oppotunity to watch the broadcast live of the concert at Yelmo cinemas throughout the country, it'll also be shown on TVE on the anniversary of his death.

Leonor Watling y sus dos acompañantes, Óscar Ybarra y Alejandro Pelayo, agotan por segunda vez las entradas para un recital en A Coruña antes del concierto. Hoy presentarán su nuevo disco, "LIFE IN THE TREEHOUSE" ("La vida en la casa del árbol), en el Teatro Colón Caixa Galicia. Desde las 20.30 horas canciones que suenan a una mezcla de pop y jazz acompañarán a los seguidores de esta banda, que ha estrenado su cuarto trabajo discográfico este año.
El nuevo álbum incluye colaboraciones de voces como la de Jorge Dréxler, Suso Saiz, Rufus Wainwright o Ben y Leo Sidran. Estos cantantes han querido participar en la nueva aventura que sus tres amigos plantean como un viaje a aquel lugar donde te gusta jugar y esconderte de niño. Una casa en el árbol para desconectar de la realidad y ver las cosas con cierta distancia, de ahí que la crítica hable de él como un disco más dulce y luminoso. Sus letras hablan de las cosas que les gustaría hacer y de las que ya han hecho, por eso conecta con la ilusión y los sueños que uno tiene cuando es pequeño.
Doce años han pasado ya desde el encuentro de la actriz y el pianista, pero fue en 2004 cuando publicaron su primer álbum completo, "MARLANGO", con influencias de rock y jazz. Este gran estreno también lo compartió el neoyorquino Oscar Ybarra, quien se incorporó al proyecto en el 2002 aportando la música de su guitarra.

Starting at 20:30 songs blending pop & jazz will sound for the fans of the band which has premiered their fourth album this year.

The new album features voices such as Jorge Dréxler, Suso Saiz, Rufus Wainwright or Ben & Leo Sidran. These singers have wanted to take part in this new adventure that their three friends plan as a trip to that place where you liked to play and hide as a child. A house on a tree to get disconnected from reality and see things with a certain distance, that's why critics have spoken of it as a sweet, bright album. Lyrics talk about things they would like to do or have already done and that's why it's related to the illusion and dreams when one is small.

Twelve years have passed since actress and pianist met, but it was in 2004 when they released their first complete album, "MARLANGO", with rock & jazz influences. New Yorker Óscar Ybarra was already sharing this project with his guitar since 2002.

The rundown - which was compiled using data from broadcast airplay and public performance in pubs, clubs, restaurants and other businesses - was revealed yesterday .The Sugarbabes were the only group in the chart who emerged during the last decade.
